When to use Rotate and Flip Image
Use quarter-turn rotation to correct a sideways photo or scan. Flip horizontally for a mirrored image, or vertically when the source is upside down; a quarter-turn swaps the output width and height.
Quality and file size
The saved pixels include the chosen direction, so viewers do not need the original EXIF orientation. JPG is re-encoded and may lose detail; PNG and WebP can keep transparent areas.
Frequently asked questions
Does a 90° rotation change dimensions?
Yes. Width and height swap for a quarter turn.
How does flipping differ from rotating?
A flip mirrors the image across its horizontal or vertical axis.
Will the saved photo still appear sideways?
The selected orientation is rendered into its pixels instead of relying on the source EXIF orientation.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Rotation and flipping happen in this browser tab.
